John Mallison

As an internationally known Christian educator, John Mallison is a specialist in enabling Christian leaders to develop personally and spiritually, and in equipping them for service. A key aspect of this is mentoring, which John is passionate about. He mentors a wide cross-section of Christian leaders, nationally and internationally.

John’s broad parish ministry in Australia spanned 17 years full-time in rural, industrial and developing urban areas, and three years part-time in an experimental inner-city parish. Balancing evangelism and social concern were characteristic of this ministry.

For 14 years he was a full-time Christian educator for the Uniting Church in NSW, during which he founded and directed the U.C.A. lay training centre in Sydney.

Since 1986 he has directed his own Christian leadership development organisation, John Mallison Ministries Inc., serving all sections of the Christian church both nationally and internationally. Mentoring, equipping others to mentor, teaching and the preparation of leadership resources are the main thrusts of this ministry. He is the author of 23 books and countless other resources.

When Stacey was a little girl she had many imaginary friends.  She believes that the characters in her stories - a very cheeky chicken and a very beautiful butterfly - are her childhood friends returning to teach her patience, persistence and the delight of seeing dreams come true.

Stacey's stories are filled with joy and discovery and she loves to share them with anyone who would love to hatch dreams of their own.

Karen Overman-Edmiston

People’s motivations and their interior life are at the core of Karen Overman-Edmiston’s writing. In addition, impressions and experiences gained while travelling are strong contributors to her work.  Both of these factors are strongly evident in the recently published novel, The Avenue of Eternal Tranquillity, as well as in the earlier publication, Night Flight from Marabar, a collection of short stories.

Karen has written for the stage and has had competition-winning plays performed in Perth and Fremantle.  She is also a prize-winning short story writer who has had several stories published.

Poetica Christi Press

Poetica Christi Press (PCP) is an independent, non-profit publishing house.  The aim of PCP is to publish Australian poetry of the highest standard; particularly work with a Christian ethos that can be accessed by both poets and non-poets.

PCP publications, in the form of books, cards, bookmarks and CDs, are designed to challenge, encourage and minister.

The vision of PCP is to build an appreciation and awareness of poetry by and for Christians, believing it to be a valuable gift for use in the church and beyond.
PCP commenced in 1990 as the publishing arm of the Wordsmiths of Melbourne poetry group. It has since published over 20 books, including 9 anthologies and 12 individual author’s works. Some of its new ventures include two children’s books and a coffee-table book about Melbourne.

Each year PCP hosts its annual Poetry Competition, resulting in an anthology which includes the winners’ poems alongside those of the Wordsmiths. Two of these anthologies have been commended in the Fellowship of Australian Writers Awards for Community Writing. Two Edged by Janette Fernando, was short-listed for the Australian Christian Book of the Year Award in 2005.

Jean Sietzema-Dickson and Janette Fernando have managed Poetica Christi Press since its inception. They are both members of the Victorian Writers’ Centre and have considerable experience in writing, editing, public speaking, poetry readings (including local radio) and leading poetry workshops for schools and local groups.

Ken Rolph

Ken Rolph was born just on the edge of 1950. His childhood was happy and stable. He did well at school (Berala Public, Birrong Boys High). His world in Western Sydney was peaceful and prosperous. Not a good background for a writer! But then came the sixties. Rock and roll, the counterculture, the Jesus Family. He studied and worked at Macquarie University in science while hanging around places like the House of the New World. The sixties flowed over into the seventies and Rolph came out the end with a wife, two kids and a patchy career in printing and publishing. The eighties were not much to speak of: just work and family life. In the nineties he got drawn into computer work with large Australian companies. All along the way he wrote whenever he was able, for whatever outlets presented themselves. Then, having reached that fabulous place of wonder and delight, the Year 2000, he stopped and looked around. The kids were grown up, the major expenses paid. He became an ex rat and retired from the race, setting out on a quest to see if he could write something worthwhile. Nothing startling has resulted as yet, but his program of personal review and renovation did produce a collection of short writings, published as Dog Tales (available on this very site).

Rolph has earned a living making furniture, delivering parcels, running the animal house at Macquarie University, managing in-house printeries and later his own commercial printery, driving a tip truck for a nursery, typesetting, editing and publishing, becoming a qualified Macintosh technician, designing and analysing business surveys, creating software, training unemployed people in computer use. Not so much a career as a lifetime of experiences that can be turned into fiction. For a couple of years, just for fun, he was unpaid executive officer of CARA (Christian Arts Resources Australia). These days, when not reading and writing, he can be found in the garden, in the shed making things out of wood or designing and creating latch hook rugs. If you ask him the serious question (what do you do?) he is likely to answer, “I contemplate the essence of things”.
