Buy Australian Books aims to provide the most effective means of enabling Australian authors and writers to find an audience for their work and also to make it easier for readers to find books, stories and poetry produced by Australian writers.  We do not have a conventional bookshop and are strictly an online retailer of both conventional printed books and ebooks.  Combining online retailing and ebooks (i.e., downloadable books) enables writers to reach a large audience for very little cost.  

This site has been established to support local, i.e., Australian, authors and writers.  While there is no shortage of books on the market, the vast majority come from overseas authors and up-and-coming authors find it very hard to break into the market.  Even where bookshops take an author's books, they are often lost in a flood of imported books.  Where an author has self-published, it can be prohibitively expensive to market the books resulting in them having a limited distribution.  That is a shame as a lot of very high quality work may never be seen by the Australian public.
